A 35-year-old Malaysian ecologist has incredibly survived
an attack by a huge, five-meter crocodile that occurred while he was feeding it.
The attack occurred on February 20 at a crocodile farm in
Sandakan, East Malaysia, when Rudy Francis was routinely
feeding the crocodile.
Francis however lost his hand and leg in the attack, as he
had to allow rescuers to pull him from the jaws of the huge crocodile and in the process snapping his leg from the rest
of his body.
Speaking in hospital after the attack, Francis said the crocodile first lunged at him and grabbed him by his right hand. It then pulled him into the pond but he managed to break free after gouging its eyes.
However, the crocodile grabbed him again by his right leg, at
which point rescuers intervened and took him to hospital.
