Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have arrested a four- man notorious gang that specialised in robbing
innocent passersby of valuables at Oshodi under bridge, and recovered a laptop in the process.
The four suspects are; Master Ojo Olaomo, 21, from Ibadan,
Oyo State, Mr. Ola Akinwunmi, 25, from Abeokuta, Ogun
State, Master Okiki Nurudeen, 22, from Abeokuta, Ogun
State and Mr.
Damilare Balogun, 20, from Ibadan, Oyo State.
Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, Superintendent
of Police, SP, Olayinka Egbeyemi who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspects would soon be prosecuted.
He said the criminals were arrested by the monitoring team
of the agency who were strategically positioned around Oshodi.
Egbeyemi added that these notorious criminals specialised
in dispossessing innocent citizens of their valuables such as
phones, laptops, necklaces, wrist-watches, and ear-rings.
The suspects, it was gathered, were arrested immediately
they snatched a laptop from a woman who simply identified herself as Mrs. Adebambo under the bridge, Oshodi.
According to Adebambo; “Immediately my laptop bag was
snatched from me, Lagos Task Force Officers chased these
criminals, got them arrested and recovered my laptop for me.”
She commended the operatives of the Agency for their prompt interventions.
Egbeyemi praised the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his developmental projects across
the state particularly the ‘Lagos light-up Initiatives’ which
had eliminated safe haven of criminals around Oshodi axis.
One of the suspects, Ola Akinwunmi, confessed that they
were four-member gang, saying that every snatched or stolen items were sold as fairly used at either computer village,
Ikeja or Obalende, Lagos Island.
Another suspect, Mr. Okiki Nurudeen said he did not partake
in snatching or stealing goods but only disposed of them.
According to Nurudeen, he only coordinated how every
stolen item would be supplied to computer village at Ikeja or
Obalende where they would be sold back to unsuspecting
buyers as fairly used products.”
