The police have arraigned a 23-year-old woman, Folashade ldoko, before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court, on Tuesday in Lagos State, for allegedly stabbing her husband to death.
Idoko was brought before the court on one-count bordering on murder.
Folashade had reportedly accused Lawrence, 33, of engaging in extra-marital affairs, which led to the argument.
It was reported that the couple had two kids together, but their three-year old relationship was ‘wrapped’ in violence.
The Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case, Inspector Akpan Nseyo, told the court on Tuesday that he recovered, at the scene, a kitchen knife with which the suspect used to stab her husband.
The defendant, in her statement to the police, stated that she did not intend to harm the husband, adding that they were both struggling for the knife when “it mistakenly fell and injured my husband.’
’
The prosecutor, Sergeant W. Hafsat, told the court that the suspect was alleged to have inflicted grievous harm on the victim in the past, but the latter overlooked it with the hope that she would change.
Hafsat also said that the alleged offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The defendant’s plea, however, was not taken by the court.
