FEC approves policy to end fuel importation

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, told State House reporters after the council meeting that government was pushing for a processing environment to move away from exporting to refining petroleum products.

He said the document also captured reorganization in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for efficiency and accountability as well as issues in the Niger Delta and how to focus on stability in the sector. He said the current policy had been in existence for 10 years and needed to be reviewed owing to the dynamics of the sector, especially pricing fluidity and uncertainty.

Meanwhile, FEC also approved the National Social Protection Policy and the National Employment Policy.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zaynab Ahmed said the social protection policy seeks to provide social justice equity and inclusive growth.
