I plan with robbers to rob my brother, because he cheated me on the family land we sold — generator repairer

By Eric Patrick

WHEN he was paraded alongside 15 other suspects, many
had wondered what could have pushed him into committing
such a heinous crime against his blood brother.

Innocent looking, Dayo Adegbohun, 21, was arrested for
allegedly organizing a gang of armed robbers to attack his
brother for allegedly depriving him of his share of a family
 land that was sold.

Adegbohun, a generator repairer, confessed to Sunday
Vanguard in Akure, Ondo State capital that, for refusing to
part with reasonable amount of money from the sale of a family land, he arranged a gang to rob his brother in
Okitipupa area of the state.

He said that he decided to teach his brother the lesson of
his life after he cheated him of his alleged share of the proceeds from the land sale.

The suspect lamented that his brother only gave him a
telephone worth N4000 from the sale of fthe amily land
worth N1.4m.

However, after robbing his brother, he confessed that the
gang he contracted the job to, gave him N100,000 out of the
N780,000 stolen from the sibling’s apartment.

According to him, the brother, who sold the family land,
had earlier agreed to open a little business for him after the sale of the land but failed.

He said he was pissed off because his brother was the
one who encouraged him to learn a trade only to snub him after the land was sold.

“My brother told me not to go back to Lagos, and that he will
open a shop for me. I followed him to sell a family land. But
instead of giving me money to open the shop, he took me to
Okitipupa and bought Nokia phone for me,” Adegbohun
narrated.

“I told my friends that my brother had cheated me on our
family land. I told them to get my own share of the money
 for me.

“The total amount of money with him was N1.4million.
But I told them to collect only half of the money. I told
them not to kill him because he is my blood brother.”

His alleged accomplice, Sola Ogunyemi, confirmed that they
were contacted by Adegbohun “to help rob his brother because he was cheated after a parcel of family land was sold” .

Ogunyemi, who claimed to be an ex-convict, said he
robbed the brother and shared the money among his
gang members.

Meanwhile, 14 other suspected armed robbers were
also paraded by the state police command.

The suspects were allegedly picked up in different parts
of Ondo State by the police, acting on tip- off.

Police Commissioner in the state, Hilda Harrison, said
the suspects were arrested in Akure, Okipupa, Oka-Akoko
and Igbokoda.

The suspects include Amabami Monday, Enetufo Ajinde, Patrick Emmanuel, Daisi Enetufo, Anifowose Alaba and
Segun Matowobunmi.

Others are Soji Akintokun, Olowolayemo Obebe, Olajide Olatayo, Amonimo Johnson, Tunbosun Ibitoye, Damilare Oyepo and Abiola Omolafe.

Items recovered from the suspects, according to the
commissioner, include guns, axes, live cartridges,
charms and mobile phones.

The police boss said the suspects had confessed to
crimes and that all of them would soon be charged to
court.

In another development, a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic,
Owo, Tosin Olusanya, a.k.a ‘Target’, who was said to have
initiated many of his secondary school mates into cultism,
has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment by an Akure High Court for cultism and gang-rape.

His jail sentence came after weeks of trial.

Tosin, 22, who claimed to have belonged to the Eiye cult,
was himself initiated when he was in secondary school.

The convict, according to the prosecution counsel, Mr
Remi Olatubora, was notorious for arranging the gang
-raping of any girl to be initiated by not less than ten boys
and also in the habit of putting red pepper into the private
part of the female convert, the act they called ‘baptism of fire’.
