The Fulani herdsmen had allegedly killed a farmer who had
earlier consistently complained about their activities The indigenes of the community engaged in a reprisal attack
which left three Fulani herdsmen dead An attack by Fulani herdsmen on Yakira, a community in Baruten
local government area of Kwara state, has left four people dead and many others injured.
According to ERICGOSSIP, that the herdsmen were on reprisal following the killing of three of their colleagues in retaliation
to the killing of an indigene of the community.
It was learnt that the indigene, whose death allegedly
resulted in the killing of the herdsmen, had complained
about incessant grazing of cattle on his farm.
He was later found dead in the farm.
Alhaji Musa Buge, the chairman of the transitional implementation committee for the council, has confirmed the killings.
He, however, explained that normalcy had been returned to
the area and that arrangements were ongoing to have a security meeting of the council to work out a way to forestall future re- occurrence.
The police public relations officer for the Kwara state command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the killings but
could not give the casualty figure.
According to him, the commissioner of police in the
state, Olusola Amore, had ordered an investigation into the incident with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
