I did not pay the plane fare for the Cameronean migrants from Libya to Cameron- Eto'o speaks out

Former Chelsea and Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o has denied a report suggesting that he sponsored a plane to ferry back the Cameroon nationals who were enslaved in Libya.

Photos showing emaciated slaves gathered in a stuffy room, and then leaving to board a plane have been circulated in the social media. A blog known as Malachysblog has been circulating the information that is yet to be confirmed by the former Barcelona hit man.

The post reads in part: “Samuel Eto’o spent millions of dollars, he boarded a flight for the whole Cameroonians migrants from Libya back to Cameroon who were stuck in Libya and were being tortured to death by the heartless serial killers.

See the photos below.” However, the former Cameroon international cannot be traced in any of the images shared in the blog.

Several sites have circulated a rumor that I would have given money to every migrant returnee, in relation to a topical issue. This rumor is absolutely unfounded!

I would therefore take advantage of this opportunity, dear brothers and sisters, to emphasize that love prevents more evils than money can solve.

So let's not waste our precious time looking for thrills at the expense of grieving people, but let us use this time to prevent other brothers from being deprived of their dignity.

Let us not just react when we can prevent, because among these victims are certainly people who have been our neighbours at some point, but to whom we have not daigné to look kindly.
