One person was reportedly killed and others injured during an attack that occurred at Friday’s inauguration of the acting chairman of Bayelsa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
National leadership of the APC had appointed Joseph Fafi as the acting Chairman.
The APC had earlier mandated its national vice chairman, south-south, Ntufam Eta to coordinate the affairs of the party in the state.
Eta directed Fafi to take charge of the party as chairman, pending the ratification of his position by the National Working Committee of the party.
At the inauguration, Vanguard reports that violence erupted at the venue as many supporters of the party gathered for the commencement of the ceremony.
Security operatives were consequently deployed to the area to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
