The Lagos State government Thursday said that the death
of two students from Queens College was as a result of
waterborne diseases even as it called for delayed in school
resumption till appropriate measures are put in place.
Briefing Media on the outcome of the investigation,
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said that water
samples from 16 sources in the school premises were
collected and analyzed at Drug Quality Control Laboratory
of Lagos State Ministry of Health at LASUTH and the Microbiology Department of LUTH, Idi-Araba.
“The results from the two laboratories showed high bacteria
content in the water samples from kitchen, behind dinning
hall and Queens delight, the school water factory.”
